What we have done to make this site usable, and how to tell us where it falls short.
Last updated 18 September 2026
We want everybody to be able to read this site, book a table on it, and find out what is on the menu — whether or not they use a mouse, a screen, or their eyes to do it.
What we have done
- Every photograph has a written description. It is a required field when a photograph is uploaded, not something added later, so the descriptions do not drift out of date as the site grows.
- The whole site works from the keyboard. Every link, button, form field and menu can be reached and used without a pointing device, and whatever you are on is visibly outlined.
- Animation respects your settings. If your device asks for reduced motion, the scrolling effects, the moving headline and the hero cross-fade all stop. The site reads the same without them.
- Headings are in order, one main heading per page, so a screen reader can be used to skip through a page rather than listen to all of it.
- Colour is never the only signal. Anything marked by colour — an unavailable booking time, a dietary tag, a form error — is also marked in words.
- Forms say what is wrong, next to the thing that is wrong, and move focus to the first problem rather than leaving you to hunt.
- Text contrast is checked against the WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds.
- There is a skip link to the main content, for anyone tabbing through.
Where it falls short
We would rather say this than claim the site is perfect.
- The map is a still image that links out to Google Maps. That is deliberate — an embedded map is slow and hard to use without sight — but it means directions are read on Google's site, not ours.
- The pinned dish showcase on the home page is an animated layout on large screens. It falls back to a plain stacked list on smaller ones and whenever reduced motion is asked for, which is also what a screen reader gets.
- We have tested with keyboard navigation and automated checks. We have not yet had the site audited by someone who uses a screen reader daily, which is the test that actually counts.
In the restaurant
The dining room, the bar and the restrooms are step-free from the garage lift on Level 2. Tell us when you book if you need a particular table and we will hold one.
Tell us where we have got it wrong
If something on this site is hard to use, we would genuinely like to know — it is the only way we will find out.
